Throwing Boston a Curve: A Luxury Condo Renovation in Boston’s Back Bay

A 1,500 sq. ft. urban space was completely transformed to create a haven for our client that felt luxurious yet comfortable while making both form and function a priority.

Nestled in Boston’s iconic Back Bay neighborhood, Throwing Boston a Curve is a renovation project located inside The Clarendon, a luxury condominium building known for its sweeping city views and prime urban location. While the setting was exactly what our clients envisioned, the interior told a different story; dated finishes and an inefficient layout called for a complete transformation.

In collaboration with Lemanski Construction, our team was brought in to reimagine the space from the inside out, creating a refined urban retreat that balances architectural interest, custom detailing, and effortless livability.

Reimagining a Dated Interior

This two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence underwent a full gut renovation to unlock its complete potential. When doing so, our challenge was to maximize square footage while introducing sophisticated materials, layered textures, and bold design details without sacrificing the serene, chic atmosphere our clients desired. Every decision was guided by customization and function, ensuring the home works as beautifully as it looks.

A Calm, Layered Entryway That Sets the Tone

In the entryway, carefully curated artwork is paired with a sleek, contemporary storage console, creating a welcoming first impression. This layered moment introduces the home’s refined aesthetic while providing practical functionality—proof that even transitional spaces deserve thoughtful design.

A Curved Sofa That Defines the Living Space

At the heart of the living room sits a bespoke curved sofa, an anchor piece that inspired the project’s name. Both sculptural and inviting, the sofa sets the tone for the space and creates a natural focal point within the open living area. We paired this moment with a carefully designed fireplace and integrated television, balancing comfort with visual impact and creating a cozy yet refined place to unwind without disrupting the room’s clean architectural lines.

A Kitchen Designed for Style and Efficiency

The kitchen was designed with both elegance and efficiency in mind. Streamlined cabinetry, smart storage solutions, and high-performance finishes elevate the space while supporting everyday use. Subtle luxury details and modern materials ensure the kitchen feels cohesive with the rest of the home.

Custom Built-Ins, Smart Storage, and Functional Design

Throughout the home, custom-built-ins and clever storage solutions help optimize the condo’s footprint. A cantilevered desk, integrated shelving, and thoughtfully placed cabinetry allow the space to feel open while still accommodating daily needs, an essential balance for city living.

A Chic Urban Retreat Tailored to City Living

Statement art, sculptural lighting, and cutting-edge materials bring a sense of luxury throughout the home, while maintaining a serene, livable atmosphere. Throwing Boston a Curve is a study in balance—where bold design choices coexist with comfort and ease.

The finished residence is a true urban sanctuary, offering our clients a sophisticated retreat within the energy of the city.
