Steeped in history, The Coco was built in 1892 by whaler Captain Charles Wiliam Fisher, named after his wife’s dog and inspired by her travels and adventures at sea. Reider + Co kept this important story close to mind to create a modern-day interpretation of a welcoming captain’s house.

Reider + Co's redesign of The Edgartown Inn aims to bring the Vineyard's organic spirit to this classic sea captain's house. The light and airy ambiance pairs natural materials with a neutral palette, while woven light fixtures and local artwork add an artisanal feel. Reider + Co's redesign of Newport's Cliffside Inn draws inspiration from the stately mansion's rich history and notable former resident, artist Beatrice Turner. The sophisticated jewel-toned design contrasts traditional shapes with vibrant wallpapers and accents for a modern feel. Each of the 16 rooms has a unique design featuring a palette of deep green, blue, and eggplant hues, ensuring that the new Cliffside appeals to both repeat guests and first-time visitors.

Reider + Co collaborated closely with the architect and builder to transform The Sydney, an 8-room boutique hotel in Edgartown, into a cohesive jewel with deep Vineyard roots and modern style. Working closely with the architect and builder, we selected materials and finishes for the new 14-room building, merging the original 19th-century home of a whaling captain with new construction. Jewel tones and a sea-like palette of blues and greens are accented by mother of pearl, woven seagrass wall coverings, and abstract coastal art. The result is a unique hotel with a natural element and a thoroughly modern vibe.

The Reider + Co team was thrilled to design The Richard, a new Edgartown hotel with a layered design that juxtaposes a masculine, edgy vibe with soft, organic forms. Strong sculptural furniture selections, black and white fabrics, and brass metal finishes add a bold visual contrast, while deep purple accents create a regal flair. Subtle coastal reminders include seagrass rugs, sheer woven drapery, and bleached wood. The result is a royal escape with a modern edge that stands out from the typical coastal style.

Reider + Co took on the ambitious renovation and redesign of The Wesley, a harbor side hotel, and transformed it into Summercamp, a modern interpretation of a summer camp where guests can relax and reconnect. The interiors are casual and fun, capturing the essence of summer without being too thematic. High-textured materials such as seagrass wall coverings and breezy linens embody the light and airy island environment. Vintage tennis rackets and hand-painted arrows add a touch of nostalgia. The common spaces and guest rooms strike a balance between free-spirited fun, subtle high design, and grown-up amenities.

Reider + Co breathed new life into Concord's Hawthorne Inn by blending its rich literary roots with modern comforts. From the elegant four-poster beds to the sleek Windsor chairs, Jewel tones create a modern take on classical furniture forms. Antique desks in each room pay homage to Concord's reverence for the written word, while artwork and finishes reflect the area's famous authors and nearby Walden Pond. The result is a seamless fusion of history and modernity that offers guests a unique and luxurious stay.

Field Guide, a 30-guest accommodation property in Stowe, Vermont, is designed to embrace the town's year-round outdoor pursuits. Reider + Co incorporated faux fur, antlers, and bird wallpaper, among other nostalgic elements, to create functional, luxurious, and lounging spaces. The locally sourced reclaimed wood front desk welcomes guests to the highly textural lounge, featuring orange pops, local Vermont art, and two roaring fireplaces. The heart of the property boasts a heated pool, hot tub, fire pit, and mod cabanas.

The newly renovated Attwater Hotel in Newport's elegant historic district embodies a fusion of nautical history and coastal chic. The full-scale renovation encompassed all 12 guestrooms, lounge, dining room, café, hallways, sitting areas, and outside deck. Reider + Co drew inspiration from Newport's distinct character, seeking to infuse the hotel with unexpected nautical charm without an overly themed feel.

The Hotel Salem is a boutique hotel housed in a former department store in downtown Salem. Reider + Co designed the 44 guest rooms and communal spaces with midcentury furnishings and period details, blending bright white walls and warm wooden furnishings with muted jewel tones and rich brass accents. Two dining destinations, Counter and The Roof, complete this ode to mid-century modern styling.

The Reider + Co design team transformed a historic building in Salem, MA into an 11-room boutique hotel that exudes luxury and intimacy. Originally a sea captain's mansion, tavern, and rare book shop, the property boasts many original architectural features, which the design team incorporated into the hotel's aesthetic. The rich color palette of reds, purples, and greens was mixed with highly textured fabrics and Asian accents to create an inviting atmosphere. With large rooms and soaring ceilings, The Merchant is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the heart of Salem.

Reider + Co was thrilled to design a 17-room hotel in Newport, RI, inspired by the Golden Era. The team incorporated lacquer, mirrored surfaces, and rich textiles, resulting in colorful wallpapers, jewel tone mirrors, plush carpets, and gold accents. The billiards room features a white lacquer and black velvet pool table, adding to the extravagance of another time. The hotel's shockingly purple exterior and envelope-pushing decor make it unlike anything found in Newport

This Newport hotel in the heart of town, the Urban Beach House, features bold colors and patterns that make a statement. With a palette of navy, turquoise, and orange, it's the perfect place to unwind after a day at Newport's stunning beaches. Reider + Co created a casual, coastal feel with outdoor-style indoor showers and a sand lounge gathering spot out front.

For Lark Hotel's newest Nantucket property, Reider + Co aimed to create a modern and urban vibe while staying true to Nantucket's essence. The white-on-white color scheme is accented with pops of bold color, with textured materials like seagrass rugs and linen fabrics creating a sense of place. Smooth leather, glass light fixtures, white lacquer, and resin create a natural yet modern look. Each room features large-scale abstract acrylic-on-wood paintings commissioned specifically for the hotel.

Reider + Co designed the interiors of 76 Main around the hotel's brand of "live life well," creating a sophisticated retreat that embodies the Nantucket lifestyle. The interiors are classic, timeless, and tailored with subtle nautical touches woven through texture, pattern, colorful wallpaper, and beautiful fabrics. With its chic and sophisticated design, 76 Main feels like an upscale Nantucket home.

Rieder + Co's redesign of Whitehall in Camden, Maine, strikes a balance between modern and authentic Maine design. With nods to the land and seascape, natural elements like weathered woods, nautical ropes, and textured metals were incorporated throughout the 36 guest rooms, common areas, and restaurant. Local artwork, including a portrait of Pulitzer-prize-winning poet Edna Millay de St. Vincent, adds to the hotel's Maine charm. The result is a modern hotel that embodies the essence of Maine.
