At Reider + Co, we enjoy working with clients over many years as their families and lifestyles expand. We previously worked with these clients on their primary home and beach house, so we were thrilled to tackle their newly constructed mountain home.
The color palette throughout the high-ceiling home leans neutral, but we emphasized textural materials for warmth and high-contrast colors for drama. Touches of glass paired with woods in natural finishes maintain a modern aesthetic while acknowledging the rustic quality of the surrounding area.
The children in this family are still young, and the whole family is athletic and always on the go. The ski house needed to be easy and comfortable for the family but also accommodate various family friends and the children’s friends. After a day in the snow, everyone can gather in the sunken living room on a custom built-in lounging sofa that surrounds the fireplace. And the kitchen features an oversize island for gathering. We made sure to specify lots of extra sleeping spaces, including window seats in the bedrooms that double as twin beds with trundles beneath.
The home’s specialty leisure spaces include an entertainment lounge, media room, bunk room, art studio, ski room, playroom, and sauna.
