Custom, Calm and Color

You absolutely can have it all and this gorgeous home in the western suburbs of Boston proves it. Beautiful finishes, luxurious yet child-friendly fabrics, and eye-catching wallpaper are embraced by this bustling young family with four children and two puppies.

When approaching the interior design for this expansive project in the suburb of Weston, our clients expressed a desire for a foundation of calm, serene spaces with pops of color and pattern. During an extensive renovation to create more modern spaces, Rachel Reider Interiors developed a neutral palette for the common areas to create a streamlined look and feel throughout the home. More vibrant hues and punchy patterns were incorporated into secondary spaces such as the bathrooms, entryway, and playroom.

In the family room, the custom gas fireplace and statement chandelier—set in a barrel ceiling—add visual drama to the space.

In the family’s playroom, a bold rug and large-scale, 3-D piece of art are sure to spur creativity in its four young inhabitants.

The true focal point of this home is the kitchen area, which was completely reconfigured to create a more open floor plan. A massive set of folding glass doors was installed which floods the space with natural light and creates the ultimate indoor-outdoor experience during the warmer months.

The interior eat-in kitchen, accented with a stunning stone slab backsplash, blends seamlessly with its outdoor counterpart.

With a fire pit, dining table, and multiple seating areas, the outdoor space is a welcome extension of the home for kids and adults alike. Hopefully it won’t be too long before summertime arrives in New England and they can enjoy these outdoor spaces again.

Until next time,
