Rachel’s Paris Hit List: 12 Things to Do, See, and Savor in the City of Light
A design-focused journey through the City of Light. From quiet moments of inspiration to bold cultural landmarks, here’s my curated Paris hit list—what not to miss and what I’ll be drawing from in future projects.
Travel has always played a meaningful role in shaping my perspective—not just as a designer, but as a person. It opens your eyes, challenges your assumptions, and reminds you to slow down and look more closely. My recent trip to Paris offered all of that and more. Whether it was a sidecar ride through the city or the quiet elegance of Maison Proust in the Marais, I came home feeling recharged and inspired.
The design takeaways were countless—from beautifully restored architecture to moments of modern artistry—and I’m excited to share a few favorite stops that are sure to stay with me.
1. See the city in a sidecar with Retro Tour Paris
The perfect way to beat jet lag—an open-air ride through the city in a vintage motorcycle sidecar. It’s part sightseeing, part thrill ride, and entirely unforgettable.
2. Visit the Eiffel Tower (of course)
It never gets old. Whether you’re going to the top or simply admiring it from afar, it’s a must.
3. Cruise along the Seine
Seeing Paris from the water offers a whole new perspective. Go at sunset for the full effect.
4. Take in the craftsmanship of Notre Dame & Sainte-Chapelle
The restoration work at Notre Dame is nothing short of extraordinary, and the stained glass at Sainte-Chapelle continues to leave me in awe.
5. Explore the Dior Museum
A masterclass in timeless fashion and detail-driven design.
6. Get lost in the beauty of Monet’s Water Lilies at Musée de l’Orangerie
When in Paris this is one of my favorite places to visit. Serene, immersive, and full of soft inspiration.
7. Experience the Les Invalides Light Show
A spectacular projection show that brings the monument’s history and architecture to life.
8. Indulge in a perfume workshop at Galimard
Create your own signature scent while learning about the history of French perfumery.
9. Don’t miss soufflés at Le Récamier
A cozy favorite—come for the savory, stay for the sweet.
10. Get inspired at Maison Proust
Located in the Marais district, this boutique hotel is a design lover’s dream. Rich layers, unexpected pairings, and so many small moments to savor.
11. Shop and wander through Galeries Lafayette
Equal parts fashion, beauty, and interior inspiration under one (stunning) glass dome.
12. Explore beautiful Montmartre
This was my first time exploring Montmartre, and I loved diving into its rich history and charming boutiques. We stumbled upon a chocolate shop Maison Georges Larnicol—and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since!
