Good Give-Back Vibes

Last week we stepped away from our desks and came together to give back to the Boston community by sorting clothes at Cradles to Crayons.

At Cradles to Crayons, the entire organization is driven by a focused and all-important goal: to make life better for children in need. 1 in 3 children in Massachusetts is at risk of experiencing Clothing Insecurity, and in Boston proper, that number drops to 1 in 2 children.

Rachel and Jessica sort through girls’ clothing for ages 10-12 to assemble “outfit packs” for children in need.

We visited the new Cradles to Crayons location in Newton one afternoon last week and spent some quality time giving back to children in need by packing one-week’s worth of clothes for local boys and girls, ages 10-12.  The entire team of volunteers packed 75 bags of outfits that will be distributed to children in Massachusetts soon.

Krystel and Lauren find the right mix of clothing by following a “Recipe Card” to make one week’s worth of outfits.

Are you looking for safe, meaningful volunteer opportunities with your friends or family this winter? Cradles to Crayons will take your gently used clothing and distribute them to area children in need.  Find your local drop off location here. To lend a helping hand at The Giving Factory in Newton, click here to see the volunteer opportunities.

Krystel, Jessica and Lauren pack the outfits into clear bags and label them for the distribution bin.

Would you like to give back this holiday season with an outfit pack? This annual Cradles to Crayons event matches families directly with a child in need. Sign up to be matched with a child here and you can shop for new items or donate high-quality items to provide a child of any age with a week’s worth of clothing.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to come together in meaningful ways. I hope you and your friends & family enjoy a nice Thanksgiving holiday.  Check back soon for our favorite holiday gift ideas on the December blog.

Until next time,
