Situated in downtown Newport, this home’s expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and striking architectural details offered the ideal backdrop for a refined design approach.

The homeowners came to our team seeking a more sophisticated direction, one that moved beyond the expected coastal aesthetic. Having collaborated twice on their urban home, we set out to create a space that feels elevated enough for entertaining while also serving as a comfortable family retreat.

The home’s layout provided a strong canvas for our design, which aimed to create a harmonious, non-competing aesthetic that seamlessly transitions from the interiors to the outdoor space. Partnering with Sweenor Builders, we balanced comfort with thoughtfully considered design elements, creating an inviting space perfectly positioned to welcome family and friends. These clients love to entertain, so we incorporated storage and custom pieces, such as an integrated fireplace and media wall, banquette seating, and a built-in bar, to enhance functionality while maintaining ease and interest for get-togethers, big and small.

The overall design focused on a neutral, layered palette, emphasizing natural materials, texture, and warmth. Wallcoverings and accent pieces create depth and character, while statement lighting balances the home’s high ceilings and draws the eye upward upon entry. This understated color scheme gave way to subtle yet sophisticated accents that honor the home’s unique architectural features. Original artwork, curated from local artists, adds contrast and a distinct sense of place.
