Renovating an elegant brick building with a storied past as a sea captain’s mansion, a tavern, and a rare book shop offered the Reider + Co team a unique opportunity to blend history with modern design. The result is an 11 room boutique hotel in the heart of Salem MA that honors its legacy while delivering a fresh, destination inspired experience.
With large rooms and soaring ceilings, the design was inspired by the property's many original architectural features, including wainscoting, paneling, and stunning floating staircases. A rich color palette of reds, purples, and greens was mixed with highly textured fabrics and Asian accents to lend an intimate and luxurious feel.
