It's not every day you have the chance to renovate and re-imagine an elegant brick building with past lives as a sea captain's mansion, tavern, and rare book shop. But that's exactly what the Reider + Co team did when creating an 11-room boutique hotel in the heart of Salem, MA.
With large rooms and soaring ceilings, the design was inspired by the property's many original architectural features, including wainscoting, paneling, and stunning floating staircases. A rich color palette of reds, purples, and greens was mixed with highly textured fabrics and Asian accents to lend an intimate and luxurious feel.
